This first Strawberry Festival was held in 1972. Knights of Columbus Council 4874 was among the local organizations that participated in that inaugural festival and every year since.
The Strawberry festival is a three-day event that attracts visitors from all over the state of Louisiana to celebrate spring and the farmers bounty of strawberries and other produce.
For the Knights of Columbus and other civic and religious organizations in Ponchatoula, this is an opportunity to celebrate our shared faith values and raise funds for the charitable work that we all undertake.
For the Knights, the menu has changed over the years. Our specialty now is Crawfish Fettuccini. The recipe is a closely guarded secret, known only by our Strawberry Festival chairman, Francis Waguespack. Once a year, Francis brings the recipe out and the Brother Knights prepare many hundreds of servings of this fantastic dish.
Special thanks to Brother Jeff Petkevicius for his work putting together the video with these photos.
